Introducing Pomona - our charity collaboration with Coexist Community Kitchen
Share
Easton Chilli and Coexist Community Kitchen have teamed up to create a brand new hot sauce, intended to raise funds for the kitchen's charitable activities.
"Pomona" is a pear and harissa-spice hot sauce made with roasted pears, charred green cayenne chilli, and a blend of fresh coriander, mint, and dried spices. It's a medium heat general purpose sauce intended for breakfasts, wraps, or dipping with chips.
The sauce's ingredient selection was inspired by the diverse backgrounds of the people that are part of its network, and the seasonal and local produce they are often donated for their weekly food provisions.
Following an initial codevelopment, Easton Chilli will produce the sauce ongoing. A small number of bottles will be sold directly by Easton Chilli to cover costs of production. The majority of the batch is donated free of charge to Coexist, who will sell the sauce via their own channels and to shops around Bristol. 100% of the proceeds from Coexist's sales going back to the charity.
This collaboration is just the latest from Easton Chilli, demonstrating a commitment to the Bristol food scene by codeveloping and cobranding products. Other collaborations include a chilli oil with WANGS, a fermented hot honey with Black Bee Honey, and a coffee/chocolate mole with Radical Roasters and Ruby Hue.
Coexist Community Kitchen is a non-profit cookery school, whose main aim is to use food as a vehicle to work with people who experience social marginalisation in our society. They mainly run cookery classes as well as running events, catering and hiring out our space to support us in our social outreach work. https://www.coexistcommunitykitchen.org/
